Testimonials

I go to homeschool conventions in my state every year. I come home each time greatly encouraged, refreshed, and bubbling over with new tools to engage my students and broaden the feast I can spread for them.

However, not all expeditions of combing conventions for curricula are equally successful. But once in a while, you strike it rich and come home with a gold nugget that totally transforms your teaching! Of the various times that I have hit upon such jewels, four especially stand out as having changed my classroom. Each of these gems has brought beauty to my classroom, has smoothened my days as a teacher, and has made learning its perspective field of study a greater delight—for students and teacher alike!

I am honored to share with you that Creating a Masterpiece is one of these four pearls.

What Sharon has done for my students is not possible to describe with mere words. It must be experienced. Since she joined our school, she has introduced a generation of art-illiterate children to the beauty of the fine arts! Children who before where struggling to make a house actually look like a house are now “creating masterpieces” worth hanging on their living room wall!

Too long did I fool myself by bumbling around on YouTube, patching together projects, and thinking that I’m offering my students a fine-arts education. This was nothing short of an insult to our student’s potential. Thank you, Sharon, for helping our schools and homeschools provide for our children an unrivaled art education. There is no way that most of us teachers without hardly any skill, could do justice to what our students deserve. Creating a Masterpiece fills this need far, far beyond my wildest expectations!

My 16-year old daughter had originally planned to take an art class through a local homeschool co-op to satisfy the High School Fine Art requirement. This class fell through, so we decided to try Creating a Masterpiece. She has absolutely loved it!  Although I am not naturally artistic, my daughter persuaded me to do some of the art lessons with her. Since then, I have completed the majority of the art projects with her.  We have had many hours of fun learning the different art mediums together. So far, we have completed projects using soft pastels, ink, oil pastels, colored pencil, pencil, watercolor, acrylics, and colored markers. Our family and friends have been impressed with the results.

Each project comes with a required list of supplies along with a link so that you can order online, if you so desire. The lessons are presented in a professional yet easy to understand manner, so that children and adults of various abilities are able to follow along. I would recommend Creating a Masterpiece to anyone who wants to learn and develop their artistic abilities.

Thanks Sharon for sharing your wonderful talent in art. We used your program for a coop class, tell Randy thanks for all his help getting us set up, this year and the kids have had a great time and learned so much.

After finishing the pastel bluebird project, one of the students created another one and entered it in a contest. She was so excited, she won reserve grand champion.

We love the Creating a Masterpiece programs! My children ages 17, 14 & 8 have all used them. The instruction is step by step and they can all follow it without much help from me. We order our supplies with the handy lists from Blick Art supplies. The best days are when the box of art supplies arrives in the mail and we get it all out and create!! My oldest daughter has entered and been accepted to be published in the Celebrating Art contest 3 times with Creating a Masterpiece projects. She has aspirations of being a professional artist one day. My youngest daughter has entered and been accepted once, as well. Many of their projects hang on my walls as artwork for my home, they are that good!!

A renaissance happened at our house after introducing Creating a Masterpiece to the kids. While my kids enjoyed drawing and dabbling into different media, Creating a Masterpiece provided both the needed step-by-step instruction and the visual to facilitate a successful art lesson. Mrs. Hofer is gentle in her teaching and strong in her encouragement. With the added bonus of the art challenges and super cool prizes, we are convinced we have found the perfect art teacher in Mrs. Sharon Hofer. Her team is committed to helping kids produce quality pieces of art to treasure for years to come. Not to mention that the walls in the house have never looked better!

I can’t say enough about the step-by-step instructions that you have through your site. This year my son spent several month’s practicing and perfecting his skills so he could enter his pictures into the county fair here. He was ecstatic when he saw that both of his pictures not only placed in a class of 7-10 yr olds but that he won 1st place for both!!! Sharon has a way of encouraging and breaking up the steps that is quite manageable and the guide for parents where I could check his work before moving on was definitely a key to success. I can’t wait to see more pen & ink and colored pencil lessons!

My family started using Creating a Masterpiece several years ago and always looked forward to Fridays, which were art days for us. I would play, and pause, the video and work with all three of my children on each lesson.

Creating a Masterpiece has sparked a great interest in and enthusiasm for art in my youngest child by giving him the knowledge and practice he needs to create his own projects, which he is always excited to do! It has also given all my children more knowledge and experience with various art mediums.

Sharon does an excellent job explaining each step in a project that enables students who take their time to end up with beautiful artwork.

I was introduced to Sharon Hofer two years ago during a homeschool convention. Jim, my son, signed up to paint a landscape using pastels right in the convention exhibit hall and he absolutely loved it. I decided to buy the curriculum and have been totally delighted with it.
Both Jim and I spend about an hour and a half each week on a project. The supplies are easy to find and purchase since Sharon has an online link to an art supplier. Sharon’s lessons are nicely paced for all ages, encouraging accuracy and precision without overwhelming the student. Her instructions are clear and easy to follow. Creating a Masterpiece has many different art projects, which has allowed Jim to explore all different kinds of media. Best of all, Creating a Masterpiece has given me an enjoyable hobby that includes my child. My home is decorated with our art.

Creating a Masterpiece has been a great art program for our family! Sharon is a joyful teacher explaining each project step by step. We are successful when we follow her directions, especially focusing on doing only one lesson at a time. She encourages us to do our best and to make the artwork our own with the talent we have.
This program has awakened me to the amazing effect that art has on our soul, mind and body. As a busy mom, I discovered that if I relaxed and enjoyed the session with my children, I came away feeling like I had taken a 20 minute power nap. This program is a delight for the whole family. Even Dad joins us on occasion when it works in his schedule. Creating a Masterpiece has a 5-star rating with our family!

What a pleasure it has been to teach art to our grandchildren! They love your teaching. We even sent a copy of the Spring Flowers project to a prisoner with a corrected Bible lesson. He wrote our grandson back. They were thrilled!

I am so thrilled to discover these lessons. Our children love them. It is a real highlight! Their personalities really come out in this!

Good Morning! We have completed our first Creating a Masterpiece artwork!
Attached is a project joyfully painted by two of my children. Both girls took their paintings to our homeschool group last Monday and got “ooohs and aaahs” and “Did you really paint that?” responses! They thoroughly enjoyed it and can’t wait to get started on their next project sculpting a turtle.

At the recent convention, I purchased Creating a Masterpiece for Bryanna. I chose Sharon Hofer’s instruction because I saw it in action there, and they had tons of examples of children’s art using this series. She is a master teacher, and Bryanna loved her. I chose this particular lesson, because I thought we had the supplies at home. We did!

That was my daughter’s FIRST attempt. She is already working on her second. This is done using only colored pencils. The three dimensionality is amazing. I wish you could see it in person.

My daughter has become VERY INTERESTED in art after completing a Creating a Masterpiece art project and is going to be practicing every chance she gets getting good at the techniques taught in the lesson she has. For those of you who are supporting the education of our children and who are always looking for gift ideas, buying a lesson and/or art supplies are a great idea for them. Some of the lessons use acrylic, some pastels, etc. I must admit I knew she was a little artist, but I had no idea what she could do with the right kind of clear instruction. My mouth dropped open in shock!

Greetings from Cameroon, Africa! My husband and I are missionaries with Africa Inland Mission, and we have 3 kids. I’ve been home-schooling our middle child, Martha (aged 11) for the last 2 years. This year, we’ve been using Creating a Masterpiece for Art, and we love this program! Martha and her friend Ben have just finished Beautiful Swan, and they would like to send Sharon a photo of themselves with their finished paintings. Would it be possible to do this?

Thank you for providing such a great resource for teaching art!

My children were so excited to meet Sharon this weekend at the St. Louis Home Educator’s Expo! We purchased Creating a Masterpiece last year to use as an art class this year. They completed the Copper Tooling first, followed by Peaceful Lake. They are currently working on Baby Rabbit and looking forward to starting new lessons.

My teens also created the sailboat project during the youth session at the expo. They said you were just as wonderful in person and were so thankful they had the opportunity to participate in that session.

Thanks for creating such a wonderful product!

I have wanted to share with you how much we love your art instruction for a while now. Art has been revolutionized in our house! I tried other programs for over 8 years. Some were difficult for us to use and others just sat on the shelf because they were completely uninspiring. I had just about given up and labeled our family as “unartistic” (even though my husband has always excelled at art, even designing for companies he’s worked for on the side), when I met your daughter at the convention in 2013 at Harrisburg, PA. She was so sweet, easy to talk to and did such an excellent job explaining the program that I bought it on the spot. I consider that meeting providential!! The way you teach fits very well with all of my very different children. We do the lessons together (me included) and have a lot of fun while we work and learn together. That’s not to say that every lesson is “easy” sometimes we have to work and rework what we are doing until it is right, but it is always good, always beneficial and we always get better (and have fun doing it). Baby Rabbit was frustrating for one of my sons, but he worked through it and came out with a lovely realistic baby rabbit at the end. Now he feels more comfortable working with clay and we look forward to more projects in that medium. Before Creating a Masterpiece I would read art books and try to figure out what we were supposed to do, now there is no guesswork and no frustration.

I recently showed Ethan’s stork on my Facebook page because I was happy with his work and wanted to share with grandparents, family and friends. The response blew me away. So many people responded that I ended up getting to share your website and Facebook page to everyone. That made me really happy! Your products are excellent and I hope that they all support and help your business grow. We have also appreciated your participation in Blick U. Going into an art store is intimidating for me, because I have NO idea what to get, especially while toting my seven kids with me, lol. Blick U has made that a much more pleasant experience. I’ve taken advantage of their sales to get some great deals not only for the CAM courses but for home art supplies as well. In fact I just made my next big Blick order. We finally agreed on the
next project we want to tackle and are very excited! 🙂

All that to say a big THANK YOU! We appreciate the time you have taken to make these lessons and also to market them. I knew after the Facebook response that I needed to share this with you. May God bless your efforts and your family!

Thank you so much for Creating a Masterpiece! My son has a real talent for art, and I’m afraid I don’t, and I was at a loss of how to help him to grow until I found your program! Thank you so much!

In the course of living one’s life, there are many things, experiences, and events that we attempt to achieve and receive gratification. With working with each other on our roosters, we both received gratification beyond what one can express in words, a wonderful time spent.

My son has loved your art videos and he has done them with his Grandfather who is 80 years old. They had a great time doing them together.

I have never taken an art class in Jr high or High school. I was more of a biology and music student. Now I’m an adult and I’ve tried to learn to draw by reading books, but didn’t do too well. I figured I didn’t have an eye for it. My daughter did a project from Creating a Masterpiece called Beginning Portraiture. I thought I would follow along for the fun of it and see what I could do. After two lessons I drew a decent portrait. After lessons 3 and 4 I produced a portrait of a little girl that was even better! I was thrilled! Her tips were so easy to follow and easy to remember.

Dear Sharon,
I met you at the MACHE conference this spring and truly love your passion for sharing the gifts God has given you! My sons have completed the Bluebird project and my husband thought I had done it!! Our sons have not always enjoyed art but they love lessons with Miss Sharon. Thank you.

I have had the opportunity to talk to many parents at conferences who have bought the Creating a Masterpiece curriculum for their children. These parents are amazed at what their children learn by following along with Sharon Hofer. Many people can barely believe what can be accomplished by a very young student with her guidance.

I call Sharon Hofer the “Kid Whisperer”! Give her a child who is struggling with academics or low self-esteem and Sharon can lift them up and give the skill and confidence that they need through working through an art project. I have noticed that even through the videos, her focus is on the student.

After just two lessons, my pastel piece was in the dining room on an easel and a friend came over, went into my dining room and came back out and asked who did the artwork that was in there – I didn’t even know what she was talking about for a minute and then I told her that I did… She couldn’t believe it was my first piece! YEAH! Thanks for the great instruction!

My daughter uses your Creating a Masterpiece instruction and I thought it would be great to use them in the Haitian orphanage where I live and teach. You wanted a picture, so here it is! The children are enjoying the lessons in pencil drawing. My picture doesn’t reflect their work very well, but if you look really hard you can see it. I use an interpreter to translate from English to Creole, so it’s a little slower, but they love it. Thanks so much.

I have tried dozens of art curriculum over the past ten years and have never been happy with any of them. Thankfully, I found the “Creating A Masterpiece” series by Sharon Hofer. Sharon has made private art lessons available to children in an easy to understand step-by-step format. As a homeschooling mother I have found Creating a Masterpiece to be an invaluable tool in our art education curriculum!

As an artist, with an extensive art education, I highly recommend this curriculum for any child or adult interested in developing their artistic ability. I will continue to recommend this set to homeschooling parents and look forward to future art instruction by Mrs. Hofer.

I so much appreciate that I have finally found a company that understands homeschoolers’ needs and who is willing to reach out to us with a product that has been lacking very much in our circle. I have noticed in 8 years that I’ve been homeschooling, it’s been hard to find any art curriculum that was reasonably priced and geared to children instead of adults. What I love about “Creating a Masterpiece” is that all of us can do the same lesson and everyone is able to create a masterpiece. Even my youngest was capable of following it.
